Participants are responsible for their own meals, lodging and transportation accommodations.  Below are some suggestions on where to stay. We also encourage participants to explore AirBnB listings in the area; these can be found by searching here. East Lansing is also served by Uber.

Budget

Mid-range

Marriott East Lansing – University Place, 300 M.A.C. Avenue, East Lansing, MI 48823 (rooms start at $147 per night).  For more information or to register at this hotel, click here. This hotel is located in downtown East Lansing. The Michigan Flyer (bus from Detroit Metro Airport) drops/picks up passengers from in front of this hotel.

Transportation

The Capital Regional Airport, located in Lansing, MI is the closest airport to the MSU campus. This airport is served by Delta (with nonstop service to Detroit (DTW) and Minneapolis (MSP)), American Airlines (with nonstop service to Chicago (ORD) and Washington DC (DCA)), and United Airlines (with nonstop service to Chicago (ORD)).

The nearest major International Airport is Detroit Metro Airport (DTW), in Detroit, Michigan, offering nonstop flights to various destinations in Europe and Asia. It is located approximately 85 miles from the MSU campus. Transportation from Detroit Metro Airport to campus is available through the Michigan Flyer. ***AAEA Meetings: for participants attending the 2017 AAEA summer meetings in Chicago immediately following the summer school there is a train connecting East Lansing with Chicago Union Station.
